When we ask people how they are doing, we can about put money down that the word "busy" will be incorporated somewhere in their response. I've begun to really dislike that word mostly because I dislike what it means and how true it is for most of us, myself included. Poop emoji.
I am a person who could easily be entertained sitting in silence staring blankly at a wall left alone with my deep thoughts bouncing from anything from how I did much better when I did menu planning in advance to wondering what I'm doing right now in a parallel universe and if maybe I'm actually reincarnated many places all over this world at this moment and if any of those people happen to be enjoying an amazing meal with a glass of wine. Yum...
I don't get time to do that. I am a single mom with three kids, two of which attend high school in a small school which means, they are involved in everything. I work full time as a school psychologist which means I have no idea what my day will look...
When I was little, I daydreamed a lot. I spent a lot of time in nature. I believed in magic and miracles. I loved to hear, read, or watch anything that had mystery. I loved the idea of angels being with me. I would explore the world around me and within me.
As I grew, I became conditioned to think of those things as non-sense. I lost touch with that feminine nature inherent in me. But the past few years have been all about reconnecting back to what is already there waiting to be felt.
You see, I have come to discover and FEEL this knowingness within me. It's an inner wisdom that knows what's best for me because it's connected to a higher power and others as well. We all have this ability, we just have to learn to reconnect with it.
In our modern Western world, we have disconnected ourselves from that inner wisdom. We worship the rational, observable, and logical and dismiss intuition. We think of acting from a feeling as irrational and foolish and something we...
Full transparency here…This card stirred uncomfortable feelings within me.
I know it’s my therapy training where we learn to guide people to find their own answers. Telling someone directly what to do isn’t something I practice.
This week’s oracle card isn’t messing around. It’s direct.
But remember, it’s an oracle. Its job is to help you connect with the truth already known within. So feel into it. Where is this message aligned with what you already know?
You are the oracle. The card is just a tool to guide you back to your own inner knowing.
Breathe and Believe
Even reading the word can create a shift in emotion.
I’ve redefined how I look at shame over the years. Shame seems to be everywhere. Shame is an effective way to get people to conform and follow their rules.
In my upbringing, it seemed to be everywhere. Whether it was intentional or not, that’s how I interpreted it. That in order to get to Heaven, I must do certain steps and if I failed to do those steps, or worse, did something against the rules, then the shame set in because I was not worthy of God’s love, which translates into not being worthy of my own love either. I was left feeling unlovable and unworthy roughly 83% of the time.
Life became a flow chart with my ticket to Heaven and God’s love on one end and burning in hell for eternity on the other. In the middle was a purgatory—a series of choices that led separate directions. Life was full of fear and shame.
As I have redefined my relationship...
What message do you need to hear this week?
This week's oracle card could be applied more generally in your life to inspire you. It could also be specific if you take the time to reflect.
Be brave and really think about the message. Allow it to permeate within.
These oracle messages can have a profound impact on your life if you let it. That's our work. To use the insight we are given to stop, reflect, and make it meaningful. Then the challenge is to do the work.
Have you ever gone to a training for work or read a book hoping to learn something to improve life in some fashion. You feel inspired to do something different. Then, after it's over you go back into the world and back to business as usual. That's our natural tendency and why we tend to have the same problems surface day after day, year after year.
In order to have lasting changes, we have to be very intentional and dedicate ourselves to reflecting on our lives and plan to do something...
This week I chose the Goddess Guidance Oracle deck as an extension of our divine feminine and masculine energy discussion in our Accelerated Awakening Group Coaching course.
Where in your life do you see where you could incorporate the guidance from this week's oracle message?
Watch the dog in the back through the video! LOL!!!
The message for this week is to take on the meditative, neutral mind.
Where can you take a step back and pause?
Where in life will it do you good to not take things so personally and instead reframe your thinking to be more objective and clear?
How would life change if you could do just that?
Is that something that's hard for you?
If so, breathe and believe!
(I kind of mean that literally since this message happens to be a huge part of what we teach. ;o) )
In this video, I talk about how I use Oracle Cards in my life and with students/clients I work with.
They can be a tool used to facilitate the connection with our intuition. They can also be a tool to help you decide if you want pizza or grilled cheese. It's up to you. :o)
School is back in session. I look forward to getting back into a routine and to connect again with the students and staff. But I will have to be very honest and the start of this year has felt heavier than others.
I work as a school psychologist. I love my job. I get to work with school systems, teams, and individuals to help students succeed. Over the years, I have seen "mental health" concerns in kids grow. I know that awareness has probably helped shine a light on the problem, but there is more at play.
Some schools have kids as young as 4 talking about taking their life. The Child Mind Institute reports that half of all mental illness occurs before the age of 14, and 75 percent by the age of 24. This highlights the need to create systemic approaches to the problem. The responsibility often falls on the schools.
But I will tell you, that's a heavy burden. We often simply do not have the resources available due to factors outside of the...
